Computer Lab Tasks: Picking a Song

Hello boys and girls,

  Welcome to the computer lab! You have a few tasks to complete today.

  Kim has only seen you working on our blog once, so I'm looking forward to hearing about you impressing her today!

  It is our turn in just over two weeks to lead the Rock of Ages 9-12 classes in a song and we haven't yet chosen one! We are presenting on Thursday, April 4th and need to have our song ready well in advance.

  We have to select a song by a Canadian artist. Think about the songs we've already chosen and try to suggest something that's a little bit different. You may suggest the song you chose for the "Music with a Message" assignment or a new one.

TASK #1: Please leave a comment on this post, or if you have a blog, you may write a post on your blog and then link to it. In your comment (or post), provide the name of your song suggestion, the musician (or "artist") of the song and three juicy reasons that you think this would be a great addition to our song list. You must also link to your song (you can link to a YouTube video if you wish).

  Before you publish your post, double check to make sure you've followed all the instructions, used your best spelling, and done careful, professional work.

TASK #2: Continue to refresh the page and see as your classmates comment. Read about their suggestions and if you are unfamiliar with the songs, listen to them. Write at least two responses. Remember to be kind, specific and respectful in your comments. Continue the conversation!

  In total, you will write at least three comments. If each student is writing at least three comments, how many comments will we have today?

TASK #3: When you are finished adding comments on this post, you may visit Rock of Ages 9-12 and leave comments there.

  Please make sure you stay on task and use your time well! I'm looking forward to hearing your suggestions!

  Some students have gotten really good at using blogger, so please ask one another for help as needed.

    Sk8ter Boi - Avril Lavigne
    1. It is a very lively song with a awesome beat that gets stuck in your head.
    2. Avril is a French-Canadian artist with a sense for music.
    3. It's a pretty EPIC song!!!

    I sugest that we sing "Octopus Garden " by the beetles . I think we should sing this song because it's nice and slow ,it would be a good cool down song after a really fast ,peppy song .
    It's also a good ukulele song so we can have the ukulele club playing while we sing .

    I think that we should do ''heart of gold'' by Niel young

    1. Most of his song have a very juicy message in each one.
    2.The main Idea for heart of gold is that even that your old your heart is still working.
    3.This song has such a good message because I think he ye was old when he did this song and he put all his heart in the song.

    I think we should do
    "Like A Huriccane" by Niel young, because:
    -1 The song has a catchy beat.
    -2 The song has a memorable chorus.
    -3 The song is written by a well known Canadian artist.

    I want "Little Boxes" by Walk Off The Erath because:

    1) They are Canadian!

    2)They didn't write the song,they did a cover of it!

    3)They are cool!

      I know that song and I love it , I was singing it after school, and I did'int remember the rest other then "There's a red one, and a blue one, and a pink one, and a yellow one and their are all made out of tiky taky and they all look just the same" [well, I think that's how it goes!]

    1.its a song that most of us will know when ray puts the lyrics

    I chose the song Trouble by Taylor Swift but she is american so I found a Canadian group who sings it on youtube. Here is the link:

    1. The first time I heard it it was WOW really good.
    2. There is no swearing and that is good because we can't listen to those types of songs at school.
    3. I think it would kind of fit in with the blog.

    I think the Canadian version could sound a little more like the american version but it is still good.
