I have so many wonderful ideas and inspiration to share with the Rainbow Eggheads from my weekend in Montreal at the GAFESummit. Since we're having "Tech Week" in our class, I'll be telling stories and sharing ideas all week!
First off, please visit this link on MapsEngine Lite and double check on our class map to add locations of global connections we've made. So far, I added a pin to Whistler Mountain, from when we Skyped with my parents last spring! Please feel free to add photos from the web (they will be linked back to the original source) and information about who we connected with!
Make sure you don't delete anyone else's pins!
Welcome to the home of the Rainbow Eggheads, formerly the home of the Digital Degus. A class of grade 5/6 students and their teacher blog about their learning adventures here. We tweet as a class from @churchill209 Our teacher tweets from @misspollock

Degus Are Not Exactly Helpful During a Show What You Know
Fiona and Fin were working on their map Show What You Knows in the degu pen. Speedy and Caine were very interested in what was going on and even went so far as to steal Fin's pencil when she put it down for a moment. They didn't do much to help the girls with labelling their maps, though.

Map Show What You Know Coming Up!
Next Friday, March 8th, we will have a Show What You Know. Students will get two blank maps. One with the continents and oceans (see a filled in version above), and another one with the provinces/territories and capital cities.
Sorry these maps are upside-down. Isaac was doing a head-stand! You have your own copies to practice from in your Social Studies duo-tangs!

Here are some study tips we brainstormed:
-take it home,
practice without looking!
-practice writing
out the list, check it in your book
-write all the
words down, try to memorize
-look at the map
for a while, try to familiarize yourself, test yourself to see if you can
memorize it, practice
-work with a
friend or family member
-make up tricks
(mnemonic devices)
-colour code to
help you remember which is which!
