Churchill + Craig Cardiff = Beautiful Music
Yesterday, all the students of Churchill helped Craig Cardiff write a song called "Love Turns I into We". Craig posted it on youtube! We're almost world famous!
Dana just emailed me with the video of our class, Alena's and half of Tiiu's singing our part of the song...
Here are three videos we took of our time with Craig:
I think Thomas took this, it's the very end of our song "Love Turns I into We"
This song is SUPER catchy, "Love Is Louder".

The Thank You Song We Wrote for Craig Cardiff
Today, we had the priviledge of working with Craig Cardiff, singing with him and even getting to write a song with him!
After our time with him, we returned to our class, totally inspired and started to write a thank you letter. We were so inspired, in fact, that we wrote our letter as a song!
Here are the lyrics:
After our time with him, we returned to our class, totally inspired and started to write a thank you letter. We were so inspired, in fact, that we wrote our letter as a song!
Here are the lyrics:
Chorus: Are you thanked here?
Yes, you are thanked here.
Were you enjoyed here?
Yes, you were enjoyed here.
Are you loved here?
Yes, you are loved here.
Are you worshipped here?
Yes, you are sort of worshipped here.
Verse:
Love is like going to a Craig Cardiff concert
You are such an interesting person
You’d make a great teacher
A very good music teacher
You are a very good pleaser
You are very kind
You made us want to share our ideas
(Chorus)
Verse:
Ethan, Pat and Haydon were happy to beatbox
(Beatbox break, mouths covered so they don’t spit on the audience)
You’re Bluesfest worthy, so why don’t you play there
(play there, play there, play there)
(another beatbox break)
Thanks for letting us all get a chance to share
You’re really good at singing and playing the guitar
So why don’t you do it, and shine like a star
(Chorus)
This is our school; this is your school too
A thousand swords couldn’t break your heart
You were really good
So can you play with us again?
Our time is up with you
So we hope for more soon
I bet we could name a hundred* things that are good about you
But we can only fit it in a single song
(Chorus)

Communities Task
Here's what we did to end our day in Room 209 today.
In your Language Notebook, write the date and title
Title: My Communities
Step 1:
Draw a chart of all the communities you are a part of (starting with yourself, then your family, only go up to the earth!)
Step 2:
Write a list of your roles/jobs in your communities (for example: sister, daughter, cat litter cleaner, neighbour, diaper changer, listen to others, show respect, clean up after myself, etc.)
Step 3:
Draw a picture of yourself in one of your communities. Draw a picture of yourself making a POSITIVE difference.

Craig Cardiff
We are so lucky to be hosting Juno nominee, Craig Cardiff at Churchill this Tuesday! He will be working with all classes in the school on a workshop called "Music AS Magic".
Below is his song, "Safe Here".
"Safe Here" - Craig Cardiff
words came out sharp like edges and knives
when all we needed was to talk things through
this is a process of learning that love is
not what you say, oh but what you do
this is my country
this is your country too
there are so many things we need to change
it'd be too easy to let it overwhelm us
it'd be too easy to let things stay the same
i said…
am i safe here?
yes you are safe here
am i needed here?
yes you are needed here; yes you are; yes you are
they told us how this was not a problem
how this was none of our concern
then they chiselled and chiselled and chiselled
till everything you loved
and everything you'd earned
was taken away from you
this is my country
this is your country too
there are so many things we need to change
it'd be too easy to let it overwhelm us
it'd be too easy to let things stay the same
am i safe here?
yes you are safe here
am i needed here?
yes you are needed here; yes you are; yes you are
and while we stood around and talked about it
they took it all away
while we argued about the cost,
they brought it back, and said here you go
now pay pay pay
we won't remember any of these meetings
we won't remember the things we did or did own
this is the part where you throw your hands in the air
i said, i thought I could, but I can't do it on my own.
this is my country
this is your country too
there are so many things we need to change
it'd be too easy to let us overwhelm us
it'd be too easy to let things stay the same
i said….
am i safe here?
yes you are safe here
am i needed here?
yes you are needed here; yes you are; yes you are
In class on Monday, we will be talking about community to get ready for Craig's visit. Here are some of the questions that will guide our discussion:
What is a community?
What does it mean to be part of a community?
How can you contribute and make positive changes within your community?
