International Day of the Girl is Tomorrow

Hello boys and girls,

  Today in the computer lab, you have a task to complete.

  Tomorrow, Thursday, October 11th, 2012, is the first ever International Day of the Girl! We wil be celebrating by Standing Up for Girls in the morning.

  What will you be thinking about? Why will you be standing up for girls?

  Respond to this post with at least three sentences about what you have learned about from the videos on this blog and our discussions in class. Tell us why you think it's important to have an International Day of the Girl. Tell us why we need to bring awareness to other people around the world about the rights of all children and how we can spread that message.

  Your response could be in sentences, a poem, a letter, a rap, or another creative method of your choosing!

  Please read your classmates' responses, too. Feel free to respond to them and ask questions. Remember to be respectful in the way that you write.

      Sorry, One sentance and I'll continue that in this sentance. Anywhoozers, I think that to get girls to do AMAZING stuff, then we have to give them the oportunitey so they can get education. It is just SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO necesarry to give them education.

    Tommorow is the International Day of the Girl!!!!
    I think we are standing up for girls because they cannot go to school, well the ones in some other countries, and we can!
    I think this relates to UNICEF in a way.

    I think Its inportent to have a internal day of girls beacuse some girls don't get to go to school.I think that everyone should have the right to go to school.I think boys and girls all over the world should get good education and good schools.

    Well it might relate to UNICEF in a way because the children in UNICEF go to very poor schools, and we raise money for them,
    so I think we should raise money for these girls too!!!!

    I will thinking about what they are doing now? Why are they doing what they are doing? Tomorrow I will be standing for girls rights in different countrys like Haiti after the big earthquake some kids boys and girls got seperated from there familys.

    I feel a little embarassed that there is an International Day of Girls. I wish there was a Day of Kids instead. I just feel like it's sort of sexist. I think it would be more fair if there was an International Day of Kids. The people that will think about girls on that day that a lot of girls will be able to do stuff that boys can tomorrow.

      Yes..... I think there should just be a kids day too.
      It is kinda sexist when you think about it.
      I mean Shauna did say in the place in Africa that she went to, the boys got to go play soccer and all that, and the girls didn't, but the boys were still not treated THAT nicely. They have to be taught in a school made of cow dung, carry water buckets, anhd WORK,WORK,WORK.

    i will be thinking about how unfair it is for some girls that cant go to school.and that quite alot of coutrys dont allow their girls
    to go to school because they need them to work on the farms to help get water. for the whole day while the boys get to sit learn and have fun.the girls have to do nothing but work work work! so
    really if you really thought about it it would be quite unfair!

    I'm standing up for girls tomorrow because I think girls should have the same rights as boys. In countries around the world, girls do not have the same opportunties as boys, such as going to school and getting an education. In many countries, the money runs through the men, so the girls sometimes can't afford school and food and housing.

    tommorow is the international day of girls!I will be thinking about all the girls who can't go to school.and we need to help all the girls who don't have the chances that other's do.There are so many ways that we can help the other girls,we can give money to the other familes and we can do fund raisers to rais the money.And it's not only that they can't go to school but when they do go to school they do most cleaning,in some places in the world they make schools out of mud and cow poo,it gets dusty and the girls smear new cow poo and the mud on the school.But the boys are playing soccer!This is just one one of the things that that the girls do if they go to school in some parts of the world. victoria

    Without girls, for 1, is that there would be WAY less population in our world. For 2,
    there would be NO more babies being born, which would be SUPER bad.
    The men would just all die out and there would be no more people on the earth.
    So boys, think about what I said and that all the men would die out.

    And trust me, I know that some boys say, "Oh, boys are better than girls."

    Girls deserve the right to go to school just as much as boys.
    With out good education they don't have as good a chance to get a job and they could live in poverty for the rest of their life,and they could starve for days. unless we support them they could live in poverty for the rest of their life.

    Tomorrow we will be standing up for girls and thier rights and freedom. You also have to realise that if we sit back and relax that the world is not going to change if only one person is contributing we all have to contribute to turn a developing country into a developed country.

    I stand up for girls, because every girl should be able to learn, it is good for there education and for when they decide to raise there own child(if they do). Also I think that everybody in the whole world should have the same rights, like Africa could be the same as Canada and have the same amount of money. I THINK THAT EVERYONE SHOULD BE EQUAL
